Starlight, Starbright

Want to teach your children to help others?  Have them help children in North Texas hospitals by providing laptops to North Texas hospitals for critically ill children.  Starlight, Starbright gives patients the opportnunity to us a laptop to find friends on line, learn more about a disease, or spend time with family.  Starlight, Starbright's programs help children and families cope with the challenges they face daily.

How to Get Started

We provide the flyers and display boards with pictures of children that need to be helped.  Each child can pick the child they want to help.  For your contribution of $10.00, you will receive a star box filled with fun.  You also will be helping someone in your community! When that laptop is received, you will receve a framed picture of the child and a story about them. Your star box will be filled with star goodies. We hope your child will remember the good feeling of helping another person.  Help grant a wish and be a star!

How Your Child Will Make a Difference

Hospitalization is an extremely isolating experience for seriously ill children and teens. It's hard for them to keep in touch with family and friends, and to keep up with schoolwork. PC Pals, one of Starlight Starbright's signature programs, provides a high-tech solution to the loneliness and fear that often accompany a hospital stay. PC Pals provide pediatric patients with a variety of entertaining and educational software and access to Starbright World® an online community for seriously ill teens.

The accessible programs provide medical information in a fun, engaging manner and teach children how to better manage and cope with their medical conditions. Internet, email and instant messaging enable children to stay connected with the outside world during a time when they often feel very lonely. Having access to the communication, education and entertainment opportunities offered by an Internet-enabled computer helps raise children's spirits, distract them from their pain, and provide them with a sense of community.
